Our pre-school children of course, are head of the Nursery, many having been at New Beginnings since they were babies. They grow into confident individuals and are encouraged to be independent and go on to thrive at their next adventure, Big School!
We liaise with teachers from the local primary schools to ensure that children are well prepared for the next stage in their education. Our staff are professionally-trained so that they are able to assess each individual child in the seven different areas of learning and then help them to progress.
Just like schools, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, and structure all our learning experiences by offering children the opportunity to play with a wide variety of activities.
Walkers, Talkers and Pretenders – At this age children display a greater competence at moving, talking and pretending. They also show increased confidence in themselves and their skills at making relationships.
We provide lots of exciting resources including our lovely home corner and dressing-up area. These run alongside the more familiar nursery stock such as sand and water play, the creative tables and computer games.
We encourage outdoor play all year round, providing resources for the children to make their own dens. They also love to experiment with large-scale household items such as guttering for the toy cars to race down and paint brushes to apply water to walls.
Trips out of Nursery are a favourite for our pre-school children. These include walks to the village and local shops. We regularly visit the elderly at the local community centre and also join with our parents at seasonal events such as the Wycombe Swan Pantomime at Christmastime.
